Workplace Mental Health First Aid

Supporting positive mental health in the workplace is essential for creating a productive, inclusive, and resilient environment. Poor mental health can significantly affect performance, wellbeing, and team morale, making it crucial for managers to recognise the signs and respond with confidence and care.

Our Mental Health Awareness Training for managers is designed to equip leaders with the knowledge, tools, and everyday practices needed to support themselves and their teams. This training raises awareness, builds practical skills, and strengthens the ability to foster open, supportive conversations around mental health. Through this course, managers will learn how to:

  • Identify colleagues who may be experiencing poor mental health and offer early, first‑level support
  • Encourage individuals to seek appropriate professional help and access wider support networks
  • Practise active listening and demonstrate empathy during sensitive conversations
  • Communicate with improved mental health literacy, challenging stigma and using appropriate language
  • Understand the Mental Health First Aider role, including its boundaries and confidentiality principles
  • Prioritise their own wellbeing through self‑care strategies

At the end of this training delegates will feel empowered to play a critical role in supporting both their colleagues and their own mental health creating a healthier, more supportive workplace where everyone can thrive.

Our company target is to have a minimum of two qualified MHFA’s in each of our primary schools and three qualified MHFA’s within our secondary schools.  Each course completed successfully will entitle the candidate to a three-year qualification.  The course is run by an external organisation, dates for which will be advertised separately.
