Supporting members of staff to be well and fulfil their role.
Managing sickness absence in a school setting can be a time‑consuming task that requires a proactive and consistent approach. Clear policies, reliable reporting procedures, and accurate attendance records help create a well‑organised and supportive environment. By fostering an open culture around wellbeing and offering early intervention where needed, we can actively reduce the impact of staff absence on teaching and learning while demonstrating care and professionalism towards our employees.
To support you with this process we invite you to attend the Sickness Absence Management Workshop that has been designed to give managers a greater practical knowledge of policies, practices and procedures that will in turn give those responsible for this process on a day to day basis the confidence in applying best practices in this complex area of people management. The course will focus on the following areas:
- The importance of effective absence management
- The CAT Absence Policy and Procedure
- Understanding the Equalities Act
- Conducting return-to-work interviews
- Working with Occupational Health
- Managing formal meetings
- Developing and implementing absence improvement plans
At the end of the training delegates will have the tools and knowledge to ensure that sickness absences are handled promptly, sensitively, consistently and confidentially in a fair and supportive manner. Managers will have the confidence they are meeting their responsibility under the Equality Act 2010 allowing them to embrace best practise in all areas of work and secure equality of both treatment and outcome for all.
This interactive session is designed specifically for those with management responsibility in schools.
