Safer Recruitment in Education Training

Safer recruitment training to safeguard our pupils.

Our in-house fully accredited safer recruitment training provides school staff and governors with the knowledge and confidence to make informed, responsible hiring decisions that prioritise the safety of children and young people within our schools.

The Safer Recruitment in Education is essential training that will guide participants through every stage of the recruitment process—from developing compliant job descriptions and application forms to conducting robust interviews, completing DBS checks, and managing any concerns that arise after appointment. By completing this training, schools ensure their practices will align with statutory safeguarding requirements, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), and strengthen their overall approach to protecting pupils. Areas covered on the course are:

• Safeguarding Awareness – recognising and managing allegations of inappropriate behaviour or abuse
• The recruitment process – Shortlisting, interviewing and vetting candidates safely
• Legal compliance – understanding statutory duties, KCSIE guidance, and government recommendations
• Maintaining a safer culture – embedding safeguarding practices throughout the school and governance processes

Completion of the course will give individuals that are responsible for recruitment within our schools the confidence to reduce the risk of employing unsuitable individuals.  The course will ensure compliance with legal and statutory safeguarding requirements, build a culture of vigilance and provide managers with the assurance that are making informed recruitment decisions.

After successful completion of the course the employee will be awarded a three-year qualification.  Once an individual has qualified and before the end of the three years, it will be necessary for a refresher course to be taken to ensure the individual remains compliant and informed with any subsequent changes in legislation.  In 2026 / 2027 we will be conducting three training sessions.  Two will be refresher training for those that are approaching their three-year anniversary, and one session course be a full training course designed for those that are new to the school recruitment process. Online Refresher 1 day course - 24th November 2026 - 9am - 1pm

Online Full Course 2 day course - 2nd March 2027 & 9th March 2027 - 9am - 1pm 

In Person Refresher 1 day course - 19th May 2027 9am - 1pm - Stoneydelph Primary School
